Pleasant Plains Elementary “A Title I School of Which We Are Very Proud!”

School-wide Title I programs offer resources to assist schools with over 50% of the population economically disadvantaged. Title I resources are used to develop a school-wide program that includes the following components: comprehensive needs assessment, strategies for providing highly qualified teachers, high quality professional development, parental involvement, academic intervention programs, and other elements of an effective school program.

The financial assistance provided by Title I has aided our school by providing additional resources such as: a reading specialist, a GT Catalyst, an additional classroom teacher, and paid helper tutors. Title I programs also offer funds to increase parent involvement, which is strongly correlated to student achievement. Parent liaison, Wendy Kelly, will assist our school by increasing parent involvement in programs.

A look at the 2006-07 MSA shows that Pleasant Plains continues to make Adequately Yearly Progress (AYP). The influx of Title I money into schools is a positive for the school because the funds are aligned to help the school improve and increase achievement. Pleasant Plains continues to make Adequate Yearly Progress due to the fine instruction of the staff, the support of the parents, and the resources provided through Title I funding.
